Vehicles in German Town Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police mentioned they were alerted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.

Police report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Police then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report initial examinations show the liquid was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they stated.

Local authorities said they were working "to solve the case" and have requested to the community for information.

A high-ranking representative commented the incident made him without words and had to be solved quickly.

"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right attack five years ago," he wrote on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on residents of migrant background in five years prior.
